HOW TO FLASH

[HOW TO FLASH] how to flash Megasat Force 2

To flash the Megasat Force 2, you will use the standard Enigma2 flashing method. This receiver is a Broadcom-based box (similar to the OS Mini or certain Octagon models) and requires a specific folder name to be recognized by the bootloader during startup.

1. Preparation

  • USB Stick: Use a high-quality USB 2.0 or 3.0 stick. As with most older Enigma2 boxes, 8GB or smaller is recommended for the best compatibility.

  • Format: The stick must be formatted to FAT32.

  • Firmware: Download the image specifically for the Megasat Force 2 (OpenATV and OpenHDF are popular choices for this hardware).

2. Folder Structure

The bootloader looks for a specific directory on the USB root.

  1. Extract the downloaded firmware zip file.

  2. You should see a folder named force.

  3. Copy the entire force folder to the root of your USB stick.

    • Path: USB:\force\

    • Contents: Inside the force folder, you should see files like kernel.bin, rootfs.bin, and imageversion.

3. The Flashing Process

  1. Power Off: Turn off the receiver using the power switch at the back.

  2. Insert USB: Plug the USB stick into the rear USB port.

  3. Power On: Turn the back power switch to ON.

  4. Initiate Flash:

    • Watch the front panel display. When the receiver detects the USB, it will display a prompt such as “USB” or “Press OK”.

    • Quickly press the OK button (on the front panel or sometimes the Power button depending on the specific bootloader version) to confirm the flash.

  5. Wait: The display will show the progress (e.g., “FLSH”). Do not interrupt the power during this stage.

  6. Completion: Once finished, the receiver will reboot automatically into the new image. You can then remove the USB stick.

The flashing process should take approximately two to four minutes to complete, while the receiver
is being flashed it is vitally important that you DO NOT power the receiver down for any reason as
this can cause serious and or permanent damage.
