HOW TO FLASH

[HOW TO FLASH] how to flash Goldeninterstar XPEED LX3

To flash the Golden Interstar XPEED LX3, you will use the standard Broadcom (BCM) procedure. This high-end receiver requires a specific button press on the front panel to trigger the update from your USB drive.

1. Preparation

  • USB Stick: Use a high-quality USB 2.0 stick. For older Broadcom chips like the BCM7424 in the LX3, an 8GB or smaller drive formatted to FAT32 is highly recommended for compatibility.

  • Firmware: Download the Enigma2 image specifically for the XPEED LX3 (e.g., OpenATV, OpenViX, or OpenPLi).

2. Folder Structure

The bootloader looks for the xpeedlx3 directory on the root of the USB drive.

  1. Extract the downloaded firmware .zip file on your computer.

  2. You should see a folder named xpeedlx3.

  3. Copy the entire xpeedlx3 folder to the root of your USB stick.

    • Path: USB:\xpeedlx3\

    • Contents: Inside the folder, you should see files like kernel.bin, rootfs.bin, and imageversion.

3. The Flashing Process

  1. Power Off: Turn off the receiver using the rocker switch at the back.

  2. Insert USB: Plug the USB stick into one of the USB ports (the rear port is often more reliable for flashing).

  3. Power On: Flip the back rocker switch to ON.

  4. Initiate Flash:

    • Watch the front panel VFD display.

    • When the receiver detects the files, it will prompt you with a message like “Update? Press Vol+”.

    • Quickly press the VOLUME UP [^] button located on the front panel of the receiver.

  5. Wait: The display will show the flashing status. This typically takes 2 to 4 minutes. Do not power down the receiver during this time.

  6. Completion: The receiver will reboot automatically once the process is finished.

The flashing process should take approximately two to four minutes to complete, while the receiver
is being flashed it is vitally important that you DO NOT power the receiver down for any reason as
this can cause serious and or permanent damage.
