HOW TO FLASH

[HOW TO FLASH] how to flash Sezam 1000HD

To flash the Sezam 1000HD, you follow a procedure very similar to the 5000HD, but you must ensure the subfolder on your USB drive matches this specific hardware ID.

Preparation

  1. USB Drive: Use a FAT32 formatted USB stick. This model is a legacy Broadcom receiver and is notoriously picky—use an older USB 2.0 drive (8GB or smaller) for the best chance of success.

  2. The Files: Extract your image zip (e.g., OpenATV, OpenViX). You should see a folder named sezam.

  3. Root Path: Copy the sezam folder to the root of your USB drive.

    • Structure: USB Root > sezam > 1000hd > (files: kernel.bin, rootfs.bin, etc.)

    • Note: Ensure the subfolder is named 1000hd (all lowercase, no spaces).

Flashing Steps

  1. Power Down: Turn off the receiver using the physical rocker switch at the back.

  2. Insert USB: Plug the USB stick into the front USB port (located behind the front flap).

  3. Power On: Flip the rear power switch to ON.

  4. The Trigger:

    • Watch the front panel VFD display closely.

    • When the display shows “Update? Press OK”, immediately press the OK Button on the front panel of the receiver.

  5. Flashing Process: The display will show “Flashing”. This typically takes 3 to 5 minutes. Do not turn off the power during this time.

  6. Completion: Once finished, the display will show “Success” or “Done”, and the box will reboot automatically.

  7. Finalize: Remove the USB stick as soon as the reboot begins to prevent the “Update?” prompt from appearing on the next boot.

Quick Troubleshooting

  • Box ignores the USB: Double-check the folder name is 1000hd. If it still boots to the old image, try using the rear USB port.

  • USB Compatibility: If neither port works, the USB stick is likely too modern. Try an older, “slower” USB 2.0 stick formatted with an MBR partition table.

  • The “Force” Shortcut: If the front button is unresponsive, go into the 1000hd folder on your USB, find the file named noforce, and rename it to force. The receiver will then flash automatically upon power-up without requiring a button press.
