[HOW TO FLASH] how to flash AX 4K HD61

The AX 4K HD61 is a powerful Hisilicon-based receiver that supports Multiboot (4 slots). Like the Multibox SE and Combo, it uses a Recovery Menu (Maintenance Mode) for flashing, which is the safest and most efficient method.
Step 1: USB Preparation
-
Format: Use a high-quality USB 2.0 or 3.0 stick formatted to FAT32.
-
The File: Download the “recovery” or “mmc” zip file of your chosen image (e.g., OpenATV 7.x).
-
Important: Do not unzip the file. Copy the entire
.zipfile directly to the root directory of your USB drive.
Step 2: Accessing the Recovery Menu
To trigger the maintenance mode on the HD61:
-
Power Off: Turn off the receiver using the physical power switch at the back.
-
Insert USB: Plug the drive into the side USB port.
-
The Trigger: * Press and hold the Power Button on the front panel.
-
While holding it, flip the rear power switch to ON.
-
Keep holding the front button until the TV screen displays the “Maintenance Mode” (Recovery) menu.
-
Step 3: Flashing the Image
-
In the menu, select “Flash local image”.
-
Select your USB drive and then choose the .zip file you uploaded.
-
Select a Slot: You will see slots Linux 1, 2, 3, and 4.
-
Select Linux 1 if you want this to be your main, default image.
-
Select a different slot to keep your existing setup intact.
-
-
Confirm the flash and wait for the progress bar to finish.
-
Once done, select “Boot” and choose the slot you just flashed. Remove the USB drive during the reboot.

The flashing process should take approximately two to four minutes to complete, while the receiver
is being flashed it is vitally important that you DO NOT power the receiver down for any reason as
this can cause serious and or permanent damage.
