HOW TO FLASH

[HOW TO FLASH] how to flash AXAS E4HD

The AXAS E4HD is the original HD model in this series. While it is older than the Ultra or Hybrid versions, it still uses a Broadcom chipset, which means the flashing method is consistent with the standard Enigma2 “folder-on-USB” approach.

Step 1: USB Preparation

  • Format: The USB stick must be FAT32. For these older models, a smaller USB 2.0 drive (under 8GB) is the most compatible.

  • Folder Structure: Unzip your image (e.g., OpenATV). You will see a folder named axas.

  • Target Path: Inside the axas folder, the subfolder must be named e4hd.

    • Path check: USB_DRIVE:\axas\e4hd\

    • Files: Ensure it contains kernel.bin, rootfs.bin (or rootfs.tar.bz2), and imageversion.

Step 2: The Flashing Procedure

  1. Full Power Off: Turn off the AXAS E4HD using the physical power switch at the back.

  2. Insert USB: Plug the drive into the front USB port (usually located behind the front flap).

  3. Boot & Trigger:

    • Switch the rear power toggle to ON.

    • Watch the front panel LED or display. When it displays “Update” or a prompt to press a button, quickly press the Power button on the front panel.

  4. Flashing Progress: The LED will likely blink or the display will show “Flashing.” This takes about 3–5 minutes. Do not power off during this time.

  5. Reboot: Once finished, the box will automatically reboot. Remove the USB drive immediately so it doesn’t re-enter the flash cycle.

The flashing process should take approximately two to four minutes to complete, while the receiver
is being flashed it is vitally important that you DO NOT power the receiver down for any reason as
this can cause serious and or permanent damage.
