HOW TO FLASH

[HOW TO FLASH] how to flash DINOBOT 4K TWIN

Flashing the Dinobot 4K Twin (Step-by-Step)

1. Prepare the USB Drive

  • Format: Use a USB 2.0 stick (FAT32). Hisilicon bootloaders are very sensitive to USB 3.0 or 3.1 drives.

  • The Folder Path: Extract your Enigma2 image (OpenATV, etc.). The root of your USB drive must contain this exact folder:

    • USB_ROOT/dinobot/

  • Verify Files: Inside the dinobot folder, you must see:

    • appcfg.bin, boot.img, fastboot.bin, kernel.bin, recovery.img, and rootfs.tar.bz2.

    • (Note: Unlike Edision, there is no “force” file here; the trigger is hardware-based.)

2. The Flashing Procedure

  1. Power Down: Turn off the receiver using the physical power switch at the back.

  2. Insert USB: Plug the stick into the USB 3.0 (Blue) port or the side port.

  3. The Trigger (The “Front Button” Method):

    • Turn the power switch to ON.

    • Immediately start tapping the Green Button or the Power Button on your Remote Control repeatedly (or the front panel Power button).

    • Watch the Front Display: When it shows “UPDT” (Update), stop tapping.

  4. Wait: The process will take about 3–5 minutes. The front display will show the progress. Do not touch the power.

  5. Finish: The receiver will reboot automatically. It will typically boot into the Enigma2 setup wizard.

Important: Android vs. Enigma2

Since the Dinobot is a dual-boot box:

  • Flashing this way usually overwrites the Enigma2 partition.

  • To switch between Android and Enigma2 after flashing, you usually hold the Red Button (for Enigma2) or Blue Button (for Android) on the remote during the boot-up sequence.

The flashing process should take approximately two to four minutes to complete, while the receiver
is being flashed it is vitally important that you DO NOT power the receiver down for any reason as
this can cause serious and or permanent damage.
