HOW TO FLASH

[HOW TO FLASH] how to flash vimastec 1500

The Vimastec 1500 (often branded as the Vimastec VS1500) is an Enigma2 receiver that shares much of its architecture with the early Atemio and Mutant models. To flash it successfully, you need to ensure the bootloader recognizes the specific folder name on your USB drive.

Preparation

  1. USB Stick: Use a FAT32 formatted USB drive. Because this is an older HD model, it is highly sensitive to USB size—try to use a 2GB, 4GB, or 8GB USB 2.0 stick.

  2. The Files: Extract your image zip file (e.g., OpenATV). You need a folder named vimastec and a subfolder named vs1500.

  3. Correct Path: Copy the vimastec folder to the root of the USB drive.

    • Structure: USB Stick -> vimastec -> vs1500 -> (files: kernel.bin, rootfs.bin, etc.)

Flashing Steps

  1. Power Down: Turn off the receiver using the physical power switch at the back.

  2. Insert USB: Plug the USB stick into the rear USB port.

  3. Power On: Turn the back switch to ON.

  4. The Trigger: * Watch the front panel LED.

    • When the LED changes color or you see a prompt on your TV, press the Power Button on the front of the receiver to confirm the update.

  5. Flashing Process: The LED will blink during the update. This takes about 3–5 minutes. Do not interrupt the power.

  6. Completion: The receiver will reboot automatically once the process is finished.

  7. Finalize: Remove the USB stick when you see the new boot logo on the screen to prevent the box from asking to flash again.

Troubleshooting

  • Not Detecting USB: Ensure the folder is named exactly vs1500. If it fails, try renaming the folder to atemio5x00 as some older bootloaders on these boards look for that legacy name.

  • Automatic Mode: If the front button is unresponsive, find the file noforce in the vs1500 folder and rename it to force. The receiver will then flash automatically upon power-up.
