HOW TO FLASH

[HOW TO FLASH] how to flash Sezam 5000HD

The Sezam 5000HD is an Enigma2 receiver that uses a slightly different folder structure compared to the “Marvel” series. To successfully flash this model, you must ensure the bootloader can find the correct directory on your USB drive.

Preparation

  1. USB Drive: Use a FAT32 formatted USB stick. This model is a legacy receiver, so it is highly recommended to use an older USB 2.0 (8GB or less) drive for maximum compatibility.

  2. The Files: Extract your image zip (e.g., OpenATV, OpenViX). You should see a folder named sezam.

  3. Root Path: Copy the sezam folder to the root of your USB drive.

    • Structure: USB Root > sezam > 5000hd > (files: kernel.bin, rootfs.bin, etc.)

    • Note: Ensure the subfolder is named exactly 5000hd (no spaces).

Flashing Steps

  1. Power Down: Turn off the receiver using the physical rocker switch at the back.

  2. Insert USB: Plug the USB stick into the front USB port (located behind the front flap).

  3. Power On: Flip the rear power switch to ON.

  4. The Trigger:

    • Watch the front panel VFD display closely.

    • When the display shows “Update? Press OK”, immediately press the OK Button on the front panel (behind the flap).

  5. Flashing Process: The display will show “Flashing”. This typically takes 3 to 5 minutes. Do not turn off the power during this time.

  6. Completion: Once the process is finished, the display will show “Success” or “Finished”, and the box will reboot automatically.

  7. Finalize: Remove the USB stick during the reboot to avoid accidental re-flashing.

Quick Troubleshooting

  • Box ignores the USB: Double-check that the subfolder is named 5000hd. If it still boots to the old image, try using the rear USB port.

  • USB Selection: If neither port works, the USB stick is likely too modern or has a partition type other than MBR. Try an older, “slower” USB 2.0 stick.

  • The “Force” Shortcut: If the front button is unresponsive, go into the 5000hd folder on your USB, find the file named noforce, and rename it to force. The receiver will then flash automatically upon power-up without requiring a button press.
