[HOW TO FLASH] how to flash GI Genius
To flash the GI Genius (Galaxy Innovations Genius), you’ll follow a standard USB Enigma2 procedure. Since we’re keeping things consistent for enigma2.net, I’ll stick with the friendly vector style for the instructions and thumbnails.
Preparation
-
USB Stick: Use a high-quality USB 2.0 stick (4GB–8GB is the “sweet spot” for compatibility).
-
Format: Format the stick to FAT32 (full format).
-
Image: Download the image specifically for the genius model.
-
File Structure: Extract the
.zipfile. Copy the folder namedgeniusto the root of your USB stick.-
Path check:
USB_ROOT:\genius\kernel.bin, etc.
-
Flashing Procedure
| Step | Action | Visual/Feedback |
| 1. | Power Off | Turn off the receiver using the rear power switch. |
| 2. | Insert USB | Plug the USB stick into a port (rear is usually more stable). |
| 3. | Power On | Turn the rear switch to ON. |
| 4. | Trigger | The box will detect the stick. As soon as you see the front LED change (usually to a flashing pattern), immediately press the front panel Power button. |
| 5. | Progress | The LED will typically turn PURPLE/LILAC (or flash rapidly). The TV should display “Flashing.” |
| 6. | Done | Once complete, the box reboots automatically. You can then remove the USB. |
Troubleshooting
-
Bypasses USB: Try a different (older) USB stick or ensure the folder is named exactly
geniuson the root of the drive. -
Timing: If it boots the old image, you missed the button-press window. Power off and try again, pressing Power the moment you flip the rear switch.

The flashing process should take approximately two to four minutes to complete, while the receiver
is being flashed it is vitally important that you DO NOT power the receiver down for any reason as
this can cause serious and or permanent damage.
